Vice-President of the European Parliament, MEP of the New Left. His first term in the European Parliament was in 2004-2009, while from 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the Greek National Parliament. He was re-elected MEP in 2014 and was then unanimously elected head of the SYRIZA delegation. From 2014 to today, he is the only Greek and the only member from The Left in the EP Bureau, according to VoteWatch.EU, he is also the Greek MEP with the most political influence in the European Institutions.
