Welcome to the website of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left Group (GUE/NGL) in the European Parliament. We hope you will find it useful and informative. The site provides information on the organisation of the Group and gives news on the Group's political activities and the activities of its MEPs and national delegations.
Languages: Almost all of the site is available in both English and French. Users can select their preferred "global language" from the language dropdown menu towards the top right of the screen. All content will appear in this language where available. If an item is not available in the chosen global language, it will appear in a default language - that is the language in which it is available.
Where an item is available in more than one language, the language in the dropdown menu alongside the title appears in blue. The user can click on this menu and select from a list of available languages. Where no other language versions of a particular item exist, the language in the dropdown menu remains grey.
The About chapter outlines the history of the GUE/NGL within the European Parliament. In order to place the Group in its wider context, a list of links to websites for each of the Group's National Delegations is provided. Contact details for each of the Member and Associate Political Parties are also provided.
In the Who's Who chapter, a link for each of the Group's MEPs leads to a page containing a short CV, contact information as well as information on their Committee and Delegation membership. Contact information for the staff is also provided in this section as are details of their specific Committee and Secretariat responsibilities.
The Newsroom chapter is available primarily in English and French. In the News section, you will find news about the Group's activities as well as press releases issued both by the Group and by individual members. Selected interventions made by the Group in plenary also feature here, mainly those from the Group's President, Francis Wurtz. The Events section lists all the hearings, conferences and other seminars organised by the Group. Once a month, Strasbourg Focus provides an overview of the views of Group MEPs on the main items on the agenda for the Strasbourg part-session while GUE/NGL in the news section is a digest of press articles on the activities of the Group and its MEPs. Press Contacts provides the contact information for our two press officers and a photo gallery exhibits some of the Group's work in pictures.
The Policy chapter details the policy platform of the Group as well as its activities for the plenary sessions. All the Resolutions proposed by the Group for approval in plenary can also be accessed in this chapter in 11 languages where available as well as a selection of speeches by the Group's MEPs in their original language and other languages as they become available. In the Publications section, you can find downloadable versions of our publications where these are available.
Our interactive section Join in is designed to facilitate dialogue. Users can select to be included on mailing lists or to be informed when particular sections of the site are updated. Any comments or queries which you have about the work of our Group or our website itself can be sent directly to us either through the Comments section or using the address given under Contacts.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Maria D'ALIMONTE
