1 year after the lux leaks: Special committee TAXE mission not accomplished
"The job of TAXE is not done. There was broad agreement that the committee needs an extension as the mandate had not yet been fulfilled. The situation is now in limbo with the S&D's and EPP's move not to extend the committee before its end on 30/11/2015. GUE/NGL had pushed for a full inquiry committee since the LuxLeaks revelations but this, too, was blocked by the large groups. TAXE's work was clearly obstructed by the EU Commission, the European Council and EU member states while crucial documents are still lacking.
We owe European citizens an honest investigation into tax dodging in the EU – including the political responsibility of key actors like Jean-Claude Juncker and Jeroen Dijsselbloem which have to questioned again by TAXE. On the access to documents, we are also preparing a law suit at the European Court of Justice in order to gain full access to all relevant Commission and Council documents."
