Another Europe is possible

The Spanish coalition ‘Unidos Podemos’ presents tomorrow in the European Parliament its alternative project to the General Budgets of Mariano Rajoy for 2017

On Thursday, April 27th, the Spanish coalition ‘Unidos Podemos’ will present in Brussels its alternative proposals to the General Budgets prepared by the neoliberal Government of Mariano Rajoy from the Popular Party and currently discussed in the Spanish Parliament.

The presentation will take place in the European Parliament during a breakfast for the media with the participation of the MEP and spokesman of PODEMOS in the European Parliament, Miguel Urbán; MEP and spokeswoman for the United Left in the European Parliament, Marina Albiol; and MEP Ernest Urtasun (Greens/European Free Alliance).

Other speaker will be Nacho Álvarez, responsible for Economy in Podemos and author of the ‘Alternative Budgets for Spain”; Ione Belarra, Deputy Spokeswomen in the Spanish Parliament of the Confederal Group ‘Unidos Podemos-En Comú Podem-En Marea’, and Idoia Villanueva, Senator of Podemos.

The alternative budget proposal of the coalition Unidos Podemos, under the slogan ‘Budgets to live up to the circumstances’, incorporates the demands of civil society in order to prioritize the needs of people as a counterproposal to the budgets of the Spanish Government of Mariano Rajoy which jeopardize labor and social rights as well as deepen the precariousness, on the one hand, consolidating an economy based on social cuts and fiscal austerity which creates more inequalities and poverty.
