Ní Riada MEP encourages applications to European Fund for Strategic Investments
Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada is calling on companies, SMEs and midcaps to make applications to the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
Ms Ní Riada said,
"EFSI is an initiative to boost jobs and growth in the EU. It is based on a close partnership between the European Commission and the European Investment Bank Group. It is expected to mobilise at least EUR 315 billion overall in private and public investments across the 28 member states of the EU.
"EFSI has the potential to support a number of Irish projects in areas such as broadband; renewable energy/energy efficiency; transport infrastructure; social infrastructure; and support for SMEs/commercial enterprises.
A member of the EU Committee on Budgets, Ms Ní Riada added,
"On 22 September last the European Investment Bank board approved an Irish Infrastructure fund targeting renewable energy projects in Europe with a focus on solar, onshore and offshore wind as being a project which could benefit from the EFSI guarantee.
"The fund seeks to invest in renewable energy projects with a focus on projects ready for construction or in early operation phase. The fund's strategy is to generate stable and predictable yields over its 20-year lifetime.
"Entities of all sizes, including utilities, special purpose vehicles or project companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (with up to 250 employees) and midcaps (with up to 3,000 employees) are eligible to apply and I would encourage those interested to contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org."
