Izquierda Unida is a political and social movement that was born out of several different parties and organisations' opposition to Spain's accession to NATO. Nowadays the coalition is the biggest political force against austerity measures in Spain and the only political group that aims to both unite the working class to resist these policies and build sustainable social, environmental and economic alternatives for Spain in a participative manner. Known as Izquierda Plural in the European Parliament, the delegation includes a member from Alternativa Galega de Esquerda en Europa (http://ageuropa.gal/).
